Welcome to 1G!

We are a mixed class of 23 children, all friendly and eager to learn with help from our Class Teacher called Mrs Gouzien and our Teaching Assistant called Mrs Hall.

Even though we have only just started full time we are settling in really well and joining in with the school routines. Many of us did not know each other until September but we have already made lots of friends and are feeling happy in our school setting with the adults taking care of us. We have been able to share what we know from before and we are now learning so many new things too. In our learning we have been using stories, numbers, our school environment including the lovely outdoor area and play. We have also shown that we can be very creative and have done some fantastic pictures for our prayer area on 'Creation' and self-portraits to make our classroom colourful.

You may already be aware that our whole school topic is zoo based this term (‘Zoo-ology’). As well as learning about the animals, the topic includes science, RE, geography, history, literacy, art and a whole lot more! In September we visited Bristol Zoo along with the entire school.

In RE, we have been learning all about 'God’s Creation' by listening to the story from the Bible and seeing all the wonderful things he has made on a special walk. We found apples and pears growing and there were all sorts of pretty flowers and perfumed plants and mini beasts living on them. Back in the classroom we then drew pictures of all the plants and creatures that we love and another time we worked together to add pictures and objects to recreate God's world while listening to the story. We have thanked God for what he has made through prayer too.

In Maths, we are doing lots of counting and we are using the number line to help us to recognise different numerals. We are also exploring 2D shapes and have had fun looking for them inside the classroom and outside as well as using them to make some great pictures.

In week 3 we were very proud when our parents were invited to share our Learning Journeys with us and they could not believe how busy we have been!

We enjoyed meeting all our new parents at our Welcoming Service on the 18th October 2016 which was held in the School Hall with our teachers, teaching assistants, Mrs Wembridge and Father Millett.
