Our School Prayers

We say these prayers at school on every single school day.

                                  Our Morning Prayer                                  Our Before Lunch-time Prayer

                             Oh my God you love me,                            Bless us Oh God as we sit together

                             You're with me night and day,                     Bless the food we eat today,

                              I want to love you always,                          Bless the hands that made the food,

                              In all I do and say,                                      Bless us Oh God,

                              I'll try to please you Father,

                              Bless me through the day,                                                Amen

                        Our After Lunch Prayer                                                        Our Home Time Prayer

         Thank you for the lovely world we live in,                           Now the day is over,

         Thank you for my family and friends,                                  We lift our hands and say,

         Thank you that there's food when we are hungry,              Thank you Heavenly Father for today,

         And thank you for your love that never ends,                      We're sorry for the bad things,

                                                                                                      But glad about the right,

                                  Amen                                                           Keep us Heavenly Father,

                                                                                                      In your love tonight.

As well as these prayers, we also know:

                          • Our Father
                          • Hail Mary
                          • The Eternal Rest
                          • The Glory be (in Years 5 and 6)

We are learning to say 'The Apostles' Creed' as this is the Creed we use at St. Mary's Church (The Assumption of The Blessed Virgin Mary)

The Apostles' Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth;

                                                                  and in Jesus Christ, His only Son our Lord:

(We bow from this point until we have said the name 'Mary')

Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

born of the Virgin Mary;

suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died and was buried.

He descended into hell;

on the third day He rose again from the dead;

He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;

From there He shall come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the Holy Catholic Church,

the communion of Saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and life everlasting.

In addition to this, each class has its own prayer book which the children contribute to and they are often asked to write their own prayers, especially in the older years.
